I love climbing with lots of different people and have been doing so for years. However, when it comes to knarly alpine climbing your most important ingredient, by far, for success and safety is your partner. You can't bring your "A Game" everyday to the multi day battle of an alpine first ascent and you need a partner who can pick up the slack and one whose level of commitment is on line with yours....there is a thin line between pushing too hard and pushing too little. You also want a partner who, after saying yes, actually goes out and buys the plane ticket.
I have been exploring remote, alpine climbs for five decades and during that time I can count my partners on the fingers of both hands. Without them I would not have had the success I have have enjoyed nor would I have survived the epics I have NOT enjoyed

Here is a tribute to them in pictures.

POST UP some of your partners!

Alpine? You mean like the NW face of Half Dome?!

Ueli Steck was a good student of mine...
JUST KIDDING!

Brian. Climbed a lot of peaks with him. Some really good memories.

Hamik. Climbed the hardest peaks with him. Succeeded and failed at getting up things, but never failed to have a good time. Great partner and a friend.

Brian P. Because it is hard to find someone more chill and easy to get along with!

Burchy. Because this is stupid.

Daniel! Because he is way awesome in many ways! His kids let him out to climb at times and we rage!

Luke! Because he has unmatched level of positive energy.

Alaina, because she is a serial climber with a good sense of humor. And not scared to go to a slipknot concert.

Cristiano! Because he is one of the nicest people ever and a great friend. His wife let's him climb with me once in a while and we do stupid things.

and more people whose photos I don't have uploaded to ST.

only ever had 1 constant partner,

he does the cooking on expedition, which is great. I in turn do the stuff he doesn't want to do. ( hacking away the bivy ledge after a long cold day of climbing, etc...)

he's a strong power climber, i'm endurance. good balance.

he takes good photos, which is nice, i carry no camera.

only problem is is he's always shitting and farting and making nasty ass noises. gotta have separate basecamp tents for sure.
