I want to go for the Tuolumne triple the first week of October. How smokey is it in the meadows ? Is this realistic ?

Smoky now has no correlation to smoky then. Lots of different variables.

There was no smoke last weekend. But it just depends on which way the wind blows...

Maybe not the conditions today, but not unusual now.
Bring gloves so that your bare fingers don't stick to your car door handles in the morning. I've seen single digits in October, frozen toilets and pipes, and rock solid water bottles. Early storms can dump on and freeze the unprepared. 1994 dumped 18" and froze an NPS ranger in the Sierra - can't find the article now, but that early storm was frickin cold and dangerous.

First week of October last year was in the 90s. Hottest all season:
Might be freezing with snow too. You never know the first week of October.
