The Trailwise light and narrow bag has about lost it. What's the deal with all these short zippers? Didn't we sweat out that issue long ago? I rarely zip up the bag anyway- just use it like a quilt, even in winter. 15 or 20 degree rating- it doesn't get too cold in the Sierra. Suggestions?

Buy a left handed zipper synthetic bag good down to about 10 or 20 degrees or so, then find a girlfriend with the more common right handed zipper bag and all your suggestions will be answered.

I have a western mountaineering bag that rates to 20 degrees. Kind of spendy at $300, but it's light as a kite and warm in a storm.

the western bag cited above (if the UltraLite model) is absoutely kickass; there's another 20-degree bag with a slightly wider cut, but that obviously adds weight/volume and would be relatively inefficient

Yes. (except for a couple of inches at the bottom). Great snag free draft tube too. Hood area is a bit tigh but all you really need.

Might want to look into Feathered Friends as well. They are pretty comparable to Western Mountaineering but, you can choose the length of zipper, amount of fill, lining/shell, etc. I've got the hummingbird model and am pretty happy with it.
