Chronic indeed. When trying to hack out the post on my phone I almost gave up since it kept auto-correcting "Chron" to "Chronic". I was sitting on the Boulder/Denver bus at the time - buses that now have the perma-smell of weed. :)

But I always wondered.... did he climb the whole route one handed? That would be quite a feat.
As I recall that was my first 'hardman' route.... back in '77 or so. Probably not even a hardman route by then. ha But I never have done it clean. Maybe if I wasn't dicking with pro I could flash it. :)

my trail is exquisite,
i could onsite the green arch,
though i don't smoke pot.
i'm brash and overconfident.
and my lats show.
we could have an awkward
ceremony up in strawberry,
punctuated by the spinning
of old records, the roar
of the mighty American river,
and wind whistling thru
sugar pines.

If the boombox had not so quickly gone out of style, Herr Braun could have made a fortune in royalties with a well placed series of ads utilizing that photo.

Photoshop in a slight amount of grey hair and an arm caked in iWatches and it still warrants a deal. Get your trademarks in order mein freund and don't leave your friend Bob Gaines behind.

It was Bobs boombox.
I borrowed it from him and just clipped into my chalk bag sling and climbed with it.
No one handed it to me for the photo.
Reeds Direct was piss easy for me.
It was my warmup climb. Probably over a 1000 times over those years.
Maybe next time I'll bring wheel barrel up there .....

Norwegian, im a nobody...not a stonemaster...but if you are ever in so cal looking to get on Valhalla or green arch and in need of a partner it would be my great pleasure to climb those classics with you. and if you haven't done vampire we will need to fit that in as well. that would be a fine day.
