excellent old school 1970's nominations HV:
to USA:
Elephant’s Perch, Sawtooth Range, Idaho, NR Epic: Pacydermial Pleasantries 1977 [Fritz: Feb. 25, 2010]
to AK:
Cathedral Spires TR - over 30 years late [rrider: Sep. 25, 2009]
[and already have the Zion 1971 TR you posted in the threads section.]
and here are a few more that were both well loved and have stood out to me over the last few months:
intriguingly beautiful sequence of b+w shots and drawings to YOS:
Freewheeling: La Direttissima per Ora Dove, in b/w, Oct 1973 [Roger Breedlove: Mar. 11, 2011]
more stories from a modern day fun-hog to AK:
Ruth Gorge Climbing: Whiteouts, Snickers and Pakistani Mangoes. [chick_on_ice: Jun. 18, 2014]
a strongly written story from BoW to YOS:
Trip Report -- Skull Queen in Winter [Brutus of Wyde: May 5, 2006]
livin' large in the winds to WY:
The Lama Wrangler, the Cook, the Guidebook Author, Boston, the Luxumberger and his son, Harvard, the Counselor, and the Lizard. [mike m: Aug. 18, 2011]

Nice start, but there's a lot missing. Many trip reports are about events, rather than geographic destinations. It will also be necessary to have them by Topic and Author, to get a more complete index

Jaybro: such a tease... while your critiques are valid, you're taking the easy route... show me the money! you throw down the content gold and i'll compile it... until then you're just another big talk, no action, critic ;)
in the meantime i'll get you a breakdown by author at some point and if someone wants to work out an organization by topic i'll be happy to add that as well...
Tarbuster: thank you sir! recent sweetness that i would have missed without your singling it out.
to YOS: FA: Psychedelic Wall, Sentinel Rock, 1966 [BooDawg: Dec. 12, 2015]
also added to Americas: Compressor Route of Cerro Torre, Patagonia - February 2008 (pre-chopping) [KristofferSzilas: Nov. 25, 2015]
while that trip report on its own is excellent, with donini's and Greg Crouch's additions, it's basically a three for the price of one gold bonanza...

My mistake, I thought you were making a comprehensive list of the categories you've mentioned
Apparently what you're after is a greatest hits sort of thing, as judged by other people's choices.. And anything that doesn't get nominated never existed.
Got it!
Good luck, and have fun with your project

cool: you've got the intent now... apologies for a little more snark than was necessary... these threads started as a compilation of a few different best of type threads that were then added to over the last year and a bit, on both these threads and a hall of fame thread that preceded these ones...
i put the instructions at the top now so that it is a little more obvious what the intent is... because absolutely the last thing i want to get involved with is a comprehensive project... :)

I'm not sure my three stories in the Arizona section qualify as "Trip Reports".
I'm not sure how they'd be categorized but I think including them in the TR section does a disservice to proper TRs like Vitaliy posts.
Not to say I'm not flattered that they were recognized...

good ones Alexey... thanks!
to yos: Into the womb of the Crack of Doom. [Salamanizer: Dec. 16, 2012]
..... Lost Arrow Chimney (TR) [Salamanizer: May 13, 2008]
to bc: Into the Gaping Maw, a tale of Basket Case, the Astroman of Offwidth. [Salamanizer: Nov. 16, 2013]
and can't leave off Regan's Troll wall TR:
to world: Katharsis (Troll Wall, January-February 2015). The last wall of the Big Wall Alpine Trilogy [Regan: Jan. 12, 2016]
finally, as per the doc's comments regarding what is or what is not a tr... here are three reasons i'm going to leave as is...
first, whoever voted to include your [the doc's] posts on here perceived them to be trs, so unless there is an egregious mistake to my eyes, i try to just compile and stay out of too much judicial minutiae... secondly, if i took yours off because they weren't as much about the climb itself, i'd prob have to take a good quarter to third of the other "trs" on this list off... but most importantly and finally, if people want trip reports that are more consistently about the actual climb and are complete with beta, etc as it seems to me you are implying, then they should prob just go over to mountain project :)... what makes the trs on st interesting imesho is that they aren't just about climbing, but are rather about the whole range of human experience whether that be one that is humorous, dealing with loss, the challenges of taking on something new, etc and etc.
and from that perspective, yours are both gold and most definitely trip reports in my book, even if the "trips" that you are sharing are more incidentally, rather than primarily, about a particular climb. while i don't recall at this point, i may have even been the one who nominated your heavens to betsy tr, as your writing about your experiences in that thread makes it, to this day, one of the more memorable trs that i have read on st...
but thanks for the feedback doc... and thanks for the trs...
