Hey, Desert-rat TACO's:
My wife, our faithful hound Django, and I hit the road tomorrow to tackle this route on a tandem trike:
Share the road with some whacky riders and their pup. Look for us in Josh, too, between Dec. 29--Jan. 1st.
More detail of prep and rig on my blog: An American Explorer
Tally ho!

I'm not sure if I can get out to meet you, but if I can, is there anything you would like people to bring you. A cold beer? Cold drinks?

I'll keep an eye out. I'll be out there with my son over New Year near or around the Saline Valley.

Hey Bad Climber,
Remember me? we met somewhere in the redwoods I think. I was riding down from Washington heading for Joshua tree on an LHT. The route you have mapped was almost what I did a few years ago. I started in Josh, headed out through Amboy, Kelso, Baker, but I took my Salsa Fargo and rode mostly dirt roads and trails. The toughest part was leaving the road at the southeast corner of the death valley and taking a dirt road all the way to Furnace creek. Two hard days with out water refill. I carried 7 liters for that stretch. Never again.
Let me know when you pass through. I may be crazy busy with Family for the holiday, but if you need anything, I'll try
Have a great trip!!!

Hey, guys! Thanks for the support. The start, in a few hours, and tomorrow, will likely be a little cruxy--high 30's/low 40's drizzly. Ugh. Still, we're psyched.
Hey, Tan! Of course I remember you. We chilled at Ragged Pt., and I hoped to camp with you in Pismo, but it didn't work out. I'll have Net connection in 29P's and JT, so if we need anything, I'll give a shout, but here's hoping for a smooth (hah!), challenging, awesome ride. That dirt road you did sounds brutal. Those DV tracks are tough. One of our toughest climbs will be what we call Whoop Ass Pass:
It's the unnamed pass climbing south from Baker. It's not especially steep, but the pavement is Satan's own vomit--yoiks.
Anyway, gotta eat something and finish packing.
Tally ho!
