Has anyone purchased fish smart aiders recently and if so what do you think of them? Should I buy them?
I went to my local store to get a set of the Yates wall ladders after everyone told me they were the bee's knees but after talking one look at them I figured I would have to buy a kong roll block to haul them up the climb. They just seem very bulky and heavy.
Thanks.

Russ talking: I too found the Yates (or anyones) ladders pretty darn heavy. They work great, but they are too heavy for me. I use the FISH Alpine Aiders, which are the same as the Smart Aiders but are made from 3/4" webbing instead of 1" webbing. These are way durable and light. I use two sets of two aiders.
I also do not use the "grab loops" that are popular today. Reason: it forces me out and away from the wall with an unstable pulling point for my hand. Not using a grab loop, I can slip my hand behind the aiders (or put two fingers into the aider biner) on a placement and have a secure and non-moving point with which to lever and pull up on in order to clip in at my waist. I'm also closer to the rock for the clipping in at my waist, not floating around on the end of a sling while struggling to clip my waist point. Works easier for me. I don't use them there adjustable daisy chains either.
FISH talking: If you order pronto I'll make them this weekend and even give you a color choice... Priority mail on Monday, in your hands on Wed/Thurs.
Step insert colors available: Bright Orange, Tan for sure.. maybe Black, Purple or Red. (3/4" step inserts are available only in dark green and black)
Aider main colors: blue, orange, yellow, purple, teal. (for 1" aiders only. 3/4" web is only available in black and dark green)
