Jay Adams, one of the most endearing, gifted, tragic members of the original Dogtown crew, has died due to an apparent heart attack.

Coincidentally, I watched 'Dogtown & Z Boys' last night for the third time...and learned today of his death. A part of me just got older today.

RIP, Jay. You were a truly gifted person.

Not to bum you out any more, but Shogo died a few months before Jay did. Rough year for the the Z-boys.

Wow.....I had no idea of Shogo's death. Similarly tragic, too- paddleboarding near Oahu, and an 'unattended death', according to the article I found.

If you aren't familiar with Dogtown & the evolution of skateboarding there, you'll do yourself a great favor by watching that movie. Undoubtedly, you'll also gain the kind of great respect these guys earned in their craft.

Edit: Yes, Goatboy...to my embarassment, I did just learn of Jay's (and Shogo's) death. I learned of Jay's death today after mentioning to some coworkers my viewing of 'Dogtown' last night. Before posting this thread, I tried searching for Jay's name here at ST....nothing popped up for some reason.

Live hard but live. Die "early" by preserving your life and becoming a fossil at 20. Shucks, I don't know. Some live hard and don't die early. (Bridwell) Swirling in the mystery of life's fog... somewhere are all the answers. Doubt I'll ever stumble on them. Not that I want to. :)
