Does anybody else who buys the Supertopo .pdfs want to be able to view them on Palm?
When I try to convert for Palm with acroread for Palm on PC, it warns that they aren't tagged.
They also don't have tables of contents. And the Tuolumne Meadows .pdf didn't
convert at all.
The ones that did convert didn't view conveniently on Palm. With TOC, and tags, maybe they
would view better. Maybe they would be more convenient on PCs that way too.
Is there a tool that will view these easily on Palm? Should we ask Supertopos to enhance them so that they work better on Palm?
I'm not planning to carry my Palm while climbing, but I'd like to be able to look at them without my PC.

re."Is there a tool..."
Hmm...I think I know who the tool is.
Sorry...couldn't resist. I haven't looked at a handheld computer since the 1990's. Educated me...does Adobe not make a version of Acrobat Reader that is Palm compatible?
It seems that there should definitely be a TOC. What kind of "tags" are your refering to?
Send an email to Sarah or Chris. They probably know the answer.

The best tool to view them on your Palm is to print them out and carry the pieces of paper around. The second best way is to ditch the Palm and get a PPC. I have no problems with the PDFs that I have on my Ipac 2215. Great for having in your pocket when you're arguing with friends about what the 5th pitch on a climb was really rated.

The PDF's open on my IPAQ running PPC2003 with no problems. It must be a palm OS thing. Good luck.

Ok...Adobe does apparently make a version of Acrobat Reader for the Palm OS.

I would think that would solve any problems. You're saying the ST guidebooks don't work with this software or you're trying to convert them to some file format other than PDF?

They open on my Palm too, except one of them doesn't convert to Palm format at all.
Adobe's PC application that converts PDFs for its Palm viewer errors out on the TM guide.
Also they aren't convenient to view in adobe's Palm acrobat reader. Clearly
if they had a real TOC, it would help--it would make it easier to view them
on PC too. Since Adobe issues warnings that the lack of tags makes them difficult
to view on the Palm, I assume it's true.
If others also want to view them on the Palm, maybe ST should fix them. Else
it probably doesn't matter.

I'll look into the tags issue. I suspect it's the same issue as the TOC: need to have places in the document where you can jump with a click. Without that, it can be a little awkward to view on PC, a lot awkward on a Palm. If it's something else, I'll send email or post to the thread.

Another' time zone' issue. at least this one has been solved in a number of ways;
these days, what I, do supertopo books on .pdf into iBooks on my iPhone, no connection needed (if previously downloaded)
