I have a totem alien with a broken trigger wire. I could send it back to totem, but the repair (with shipping) would cost $40..almost the cost of a new cam! My wife (a jeweler) and I tried to repair it ourselves using steel wire and a little ball swage, but I think the swages she has are too weak (it was popped when I pulled the rack out of the haul bag to start climbing the next trip).
Totem recommends bent sewing pins, but it seems like the pins I have are too short to fit...maybe I could just buy longer straight pins? Other ideas?

I snipped and bent a large paper clip on one of my Totem offsets. It's been working like a charm for the last six months.

Call Wired Bliss. They just did a great job with new trigger wires and slings for a couple of my camalots.

We've got camalot repair down to an art, but the issue with the aliens is that there is no stiff mounting through the cam head that you can then just swage a wire to. Rather, the trigger wire itself goes all the way through the head and is held by a little ball swage.
Thanks for the ideas...I think the paperclip is probably the ticket. Another option might be to use paperclip only through head, then swage that (a la a camalot) to the trigger wire. Not sure there is any benefit in the added complexity however, so a paperclip is for now!

Fixe responded to my inquiry quickly: the kits are in stock (website was just out of date). Will get one ordered and try it out!
