Bing had this photo come up today thought most of you would find it of interest as I did.

"In 1790, King Bodawpaya ordered the construction of a large Buddhist temple near Mingun, a village outside Mandalay in what is now Myanmar. Prisoners of war and slaves were conscripted to build the temple, but Bodawpaya’s own people didn’t like the toll the massive project put on the general population.
So it’s said that the king was told if the temple was completed, his reign would come to an end – either the country would dissolve or the king would die. The superstitious Bodawpaya took the warning to heart, demanding a slow-down on construction. When he died in 1819, the project was immediately abandoned. A huge earthquake in 1839 caused cracks in the structure, but visitors can visit the ruins of Mingun Pahtodawgyi, a nearly 500-foot tall monument."

Was kidding about climbing on another cultures religious symbol so save your huffing and chuffing/slings and arrows for the Replicans are turds and other political threads, but at least I didn't title it: "CRACKS THAT NEED BOLTS". LOL

Clearly it's divine retribution; those look like some ferociously sharp offwidths.

Dude, it's not overhanging and it looks like a squeeze chimney, so technique is the only protection needed. Actually it looks like that harder size where you can't wedge in like a squeeze, and you can't get your knees up for a proper back-knee rest, so you just have to gut it out the whole way. Maybe add a bolt to protect the two cruxes at top of the small doorway, and the bulging face where you transition between crack segments near the gabled roofline.

I was in Burma last year. There was another Stupa that had suffered earthquake damage about a century ago. The piece that fell hadn't shattered and that was deemed a miracle.

So it was incorporated into the rebuilt Stupa as a sub shrine, like so.
