Gnarly!
That glacier has retreated the same distance in the last 10 years as it had in the previous 100...how can that possibly not be significant?

If you haven't had an opportunity to see Chasing Ice,
do so! It's worth it, even though it's not a very
promising film. . .

hey there say, all...
can't get youtube...
say, also, johntp...
what you just posted, reminded me of an episode of 'northern eposure'
that saw with my mom, one night in calif, years back:
the ICE breaking episode (which of course, had a lot more than ice, going on, but it was written into the story line)...
they were going the 'load variety--crack, scrape, roar, sound waves' type noise... whewww...
i wonder, too...

That was hot. Way cool. Huayhuash.
Hugeness and awesomeness are relative.

Huge serac fall from the Tam glacier in the Huayhuash mountain range of Peru.
Might be the weather, might be shallower water UNDER the ice. The temps down there, who's gonna volunteer?
Anohter idle question, never to be answered:
How many fish and seals and other wild things bit the big one in that calving event?

Wow Bruce...that was spectacular and rather frightening.
And the fact that the glacier has receded more in the past 10 years than it did in the last 100 is rather frightening, too.
Thanks for the post.
