On 7/29 we found a red and black pack at the base of the last pitch of Inverted Staircase on Fairview (or possibly on the last pitch of the regular route if one was way off course). If it's yours, we left it at the ranger station by the Tuolumne Meadows campground.

I must say I'm rather curious to know the circumstances of how it got left there - the only logical ones we could come up with involved a nasty accident, and the rangers said none had been reported recently in that area.

Potter left it there. He's working on freeing a new route. He'll be back next Spring.

Sir Run It Out,
How did you like Inverted Staircase? I scoped it out from the ground and was thinking about giving it a go.
Just leave my pack at the top.

It's a good route - pretty mellow most of the way, with just a few 10-ish moves thrown in. You can simul the first 4 pitches pretty easily, and do the whole thing in 5. Pro to #2 camalot, bring a really small nut if you want the psychological protection of backing up the pin at the crux on P5. The staircase itself was still a little wet as of 7/29. A quality route that doesn't get done much.
