It seams that Afghanistan is going back to it's original atrocity.
We really made some changes there...

kinda seems to me that no matter what we do, Iraq is doomed to the same. I think it's hard to have a democracy (you know government of the people, by the people, and for the people) that's not initiated by the people in the first place...
Instead you end up with Hamas, Hizbollah, and all the rest of that crap.

Fat, do you seriously think that what your talking about is happening, is ever going to happen, or will ever be successful?

The people dictate the government, they are the true power. There is no other source that can control them.

One of the most successful climbing expeditions of all time, and on a shoestring budget to boot, read No Tigers In The Hindu Kush by Phillip Trantor.

Right, because invading countries and telling their people what to believe won't fan the flames of extremism at all.
I respect most of what you have to say, but thinking that we're going to prevail over islamic radicals through forced reeducation is downright silly. I get scared every time I think the people who have control over option B (catastrophic use of force) are dumb enough to believe option A could work. Then I realize it's just another war over natural resources, and I go on with my day with only the possibility of a draft to fear.
