Says Evernew Made in Japan on the side. Evernew is a Japanese company that makes outdoors gear. I doesn't look like any Japanese hammer I've ever seen.

Looks like a copy of early American military issue so I would say yes.

Lots of dainty piton hammers out in the world but the "T" tangs holding the head in place are not common on other types of hammers not used for climbing.The sling hole isn't common either.

Evernew also made ice axes and crampons along with Hope in Japan.

the ebay ad clearly says it's for chipping.


so it can't be for pitons.

At the very least it's a good munge tool. Somebody ship it to me. I'll find some dirt to dig.
