I have the pocket aiders and they're cool if you're not gonna do much aid and want to keep them tucked away. If you're gonna use them much they're kind of annoying. If you're gonna do a lot of aiding I'd go with the BD ones just because (from my very little experience) I like the step on the outside kind.

Ladder style like the pocket aiders are good when you want 3 or 4 aiders for hard/slow aid. Although I'd go for something more comfortable for that purpose like the yates ladders.
Alternating style like the alpine aiders are good when you only want 2 aiders for easy/fast aid.
For NIAD I'd go with the alpine aiders.

??? What have you used on other walls? Did you like it and is it too heavy or bulky?
I really like the Yates speed wall ladders. They are a bit bulky, but don't weight too much more than the BD style. The speeder bar rocks and I can even fit two feet in side by side if I need. Way better in free shoes than the others if you stand around a bit. I'd use what works. Your send shouldn't come down to a few extra oz on some aiders.

Pretty soon you are going to start asking questions only you can answer for yourself.
I think you are getting fairly close to that point.

Yeah Matt, love those ladders, agree with what you you're saying. The pocket alpine aiders are sick, too. Sometimes, it's just the terrain and your plan that will decide what you need... depending on how light you go to dial in what you're climbing and decide what is overkill for you.
The best part about the ladder style that the speed Yates ladders is not having to reach down and find the webbing rung, you can climb more easily not having to focus too much where the next foot would be placed, (because they are right on top of each other) while having that time looking up, planning your next move.
I've seen a one aider ascent too! He made it look easy,
You guys should just free it, though. Haa haa!
