So like happy birthday, eh? Doing pretty good for a 230 year old. Can't beat the fireworks, either.

Bump. Just in case any of you Patriots need ideas about fireworks for Friday.
A bit of a flashback, too.

Another bump. Has anyone ever seen one of the big rockets take off, live? On July 4th or otherwise?

no, not a launch. but i've been treated to the sonic boom when the shuttle lands at edwards. ran out of the house and looked down the street fully expecting to see a blast scene within the block. a little puzzled till i thought of the shuttle, turned on the tv to watch the landing a couple of minutes later. ya hey, yea for the forefathers, eh?
oh, i almost forgot. i have seen a couple of launches of lesser stuff from vandenburg, the best one from the grand canyon into the sunset. heck of a trail of soot that stayed lit by the sun well into the evening

I went to 3rd grade on Patrick AFB, Cocoa Beach. Watched a bunch of them....lived 100 yards from the beach. I remember the Apollo's. Nothing like a Big Rocket liftoff.
