Hardware must work on OSX. Don't care about compiling software.

I think it is all pc based...but.... the hardware will work on OSX in some cases. Something like HollywoodDazzle is cross platform.
As for the project, you are correct. I just got my shank shortened from 4 feet down to a more managable 2 ft, and want to share it with the world.

Sorry Russ, I'd loan you mine but it only works with XP.
I think I paid less than $40. USB 2.0 and encodes at up to 720 x 480. Works great.
The ones I've seen for Macs are usually USB 1.1 and encode at 384 x 288! And they cost about $100! WTF?
Stupid Mac crap.
