Hey,

On a percentage scale of 0%-100% what would you say are the chances of us getting into Camp 4 on a Sunday about midday in a couple of weeks? Will there be plenty of spots available? should we worry at all? Any suggestions for the best overnight parking while on Washington Column? Thanks supertacoers!

Well, since you are from Texas, I would say that if George W gives a speech that day, your chances are 1.875%. Otherwise, its 6.989%.

Parking to climb the Column...hmm...difficult to figure out. I would say maybe THE HOTEL PARKING LOT??!!@$#@!@

It probably will be a parking nightmare. Good luck.

There is nowhere for anyone to go yet because of all the snow still on Tioga pass. Everyone wants to enjoy the spring in the Valley.

It will be very crowded I believe.

This weekend (two days ago) was very crowded with cars and people.

Thanks, ya the last couple of times we have been in the valley have been during tourist season so we know the pain of dealing with the crowds (no luck parking at Ahwahnee last year, so I was actually looking for other recommendations).

I hear there may be flooding in the next couple weeks. Hopefully the roads will be open for us as it will be a quick trip and we can't afford to lose many days.

Hollyclimber, I am not from Texas I just live here for now. I am from Wyoming what are my chances in Cheney is speaking? hopefully they go up.

Cheers, James

Maybe this is a stupid question, but can the flood be dangerous to cars parking at El Cap meadow?

Back to the question, "chances of us getting into Camp 4 on a Sunday", between Memorial and Labor Days, by what time does one need to be in the kiosk line at Camp IV to expect to get a site?

Actually, midday is usualy the BEST time to park in the C4 parking lot. Lots of climbers are out at the crags so there are ussually spaces. By 5 or 6pm though...forget it.

Park at the Awahnee for the Column.
