I need to beef up my rack for my summer Yosemite rocks climbing trip. My rack is small, but works just fine at my local crag, Whipps Ledges in Hinckley, Ohio. A friend of mine who is a good climber (solid 5.10-5.11) said a passive chalk remover tool will probably be necessary. Can anyone point me in the right direction to get such a tool so that my rack will be complete?

I've seen canned air and a damp rag work real well for removing chalk. Available at most hardware stores.

Sorry, you said passive. One of them Hilti bulbs or a blow tube made from plastic tubing.

If you want a "chock removing tool", i.e., a tool to remove stoppers and hexes, and the occasional cam, ask at the Mtn. Shop. Any number of companies make decent tools, or just use a "long dong" Lost Arrow piton if you have one.

The former editor of Climbing magazine recommends dousing the rock with white gas and igniting it. This will burn off any chalk residue.

Alright, I called the Mountain Shop and asked if he had a long dong that I can use to clean my nuts with. He said he had my number and he knows where I live. Is this some inside joke or super secret tech tip that I have stumbled onto? Should I go with the dong or not? What the dilly-o?

What the Fu**
I haven't been to Yosemite this year but in all the trips I have done I never needed to remove chalk
Could it be you meant chock tool?
If you don't even know what the gear is called you better stay in Ohio.
