Heading up to Mammoth for the 4th of July, thinking of climbing @ Clark Canyon on the 4th. I'm assuming the road is open but am wondering if our Toyota Previa can make it to the climbing.
Also, can anyone recommend a guidebook for the area (mountainproject.com is down right now but I will look there once it comes back up). Thanks :)

I was there in april and my outback made it fine, there is just one hill you have to watch out for. Also I hope you dont care about your paint job, cuz the road is really bushy.

I was there just 4 days ago.
There is only one sketchy place, just zig and zag carefully and find the best line and you'll be fine. It's only about 75' long.
Great place. We hit it with some wind and that kept the heat down.
Area 13 was a blast!

I was there 2 weekends ago, we drove in our Pontiac Vibe (same thing as a Toyota Matrix), I nailed one rock on the way out, if you pay attention you should be okay.
We went in the afternoon and it was 88 degrees in the parking lot and the flies were horrible, especially the 'no-see-ums'. I was itching for a week after being there. I would suggest going EARLY or somewhere else. Despite being at elevation this area gets hot, try going to a crag up one of the canyons, pine creek is at the same elevation but stays alot cooler. Hope this helps. Also we did have fun despite the millions of flies and the heat.

There last week. Made it fine in my Civic. Beautiful place with fun climbs. Zig-zagging car to avoid a high center was as challenging as a 5.9 crux!
