They have been promising to do it for years, it seems, to present us with the sequel to the movie The Friends of Eddie Coyle, based on the novel by H.V. Higgins. The movie was a fine one, according to many. I have never seen it, but read the book a long time ago. It was better than Pileggi's Wiseguy IMO but the movie has earned the rep as one of the best crime films of the '70s and Roger Ebert gave it four stars (tops, I guess) in his review.
The sequel to Eddie Coyle, the movie, is based on Higgins' third book of the series, Cogan's Trade, and is titled Killing Them Softly, due for release in September, with some unknown called Brad Pitt. Being a "wise guy" (4th Stooge, remember?), I plan on seeing Mitchum as Eddie Coyle and Peter Boyle as Dillon, a friend, prior to viewing the sequel.
Henry is over the hill in more ways than one.
