Last I saw of Karl with a K was when I dropped him off under a bridge in Ontario. Everyone living under the bridge seemed to know him well, and it looked like he was home.
Karl didn't climb much, but did some amazing stuff when he was on. Must have been the silver nail polish!

Karl was around Josh a bunch in the mid '80s. I'll never forget when he was cooking a can of chile (in the can) at Gordo's house (the one north of the highway). The can blew like a volcano and most of it ended up on the ceiling. OK, we were out climbing. Gordo probably lost his cleaning/painting deposit over that.

I remember he would come into Sport Chalet La Canada with his huge pack. Conversations with Karl usually concerned the G-Men that were watching us from the tents that hung on the ceiling. He would then buy a crap load of gear, climb on the bus and head east on Foothill. I would see him later on at Josh or even at Stoney a few times. I always enjoyed talking with him.
