These old crampons have been languishing in Hawaii for way too long. The tropical climate has not been kind to them, but tossing them in the landfill here in Hawaii doesn't set well with me. If you or your organization are interested in these for the price of shipping, just pm me here.
2 Pairs of 10 point crampons plus a pair on "instep" crampons:
The upper pair in the first pic is stamped "Eckenstein"
The middle pair is "Stubai"
The instep pair is unmarked.
Selewa crampons used on our 1974 expedition to the Afghanistan Hindu Kush.

So are modern MonoPoints better for Hawaiian mountain climbing. LOL
Those 70s Salewas are the spittin' image of my 1st pair.
And the beat all to hell Chouinards like my 2nd pair.
Cool pics.

I admire your creativity, Bruce.
I still have my old Chouinard/Salewa crampons, fitted to my Galibier Peutereys, but I'm not quite ready to part with them yet.

Haha! Me too, John.
My Peuts need major reconstructive surgery. Anybody have a suggestion of who might be able to do it?

That's a great idea...it will make your backyard sound like a busy approach trail on windy days though...

Ho BooDawg,
Sent you an in-mail yesterday... do you still have them? I'd be happy to take them and any other vintage climbing gear that anyone has that they are willing to part. I am putting together a display-type show box of early crampons, goggles and their history.
I am also looking for a pair of vintage climbing goggles if anyone has a pair or know someone that has a pair?

I've still got my Salewas. Now if I only had a long handled ice axe again.

Doug at the north side of Shasta last week. We had just hiked to his cache where he uncovered his treasured 70cm bamboo piolet, Chouinard rigid crampons, and Habeler boots - all of which he used on Ama Dablam!

Doug doesn't post here anymore. The guy has lived a charmed life. Habeler boots that weren't eaten?
Tell him I said hello.

Both types of Salewa crampons are sitting in my garage. I guess the Bishop climate suits them better so I will let them stay. Those Chouinard ridgid crampons served me well for decades. Good on you for trying to find them a new home.
