On November 12th, the Access Fund is hosting a workday at Jailhouse near Sonora, CA. Join us! We are trying to distribute 200 tons of gravel on a new parking area and old road, install new fencing and new gates, remove the old access trail and reseed it, and do some erosion control on portions of the old trail that will remain. Take a look at the link above for more information about the event.

Also, as of that day, the old approach to the cliff will not be possible. New access will be through a gate off O'Byrnes Ferry Road, which will be locked. To get in through the gate, you'll need the combination. That will be posted here:

Per the terms of the new easement, don't bring dogs or music or fire or camping onto the property. Also, per the owner's request, please don't park outside of the new access gate. Until Nov. 12th, park by the bridge and approach the cliff by the old traditional hike up the steep hill.
Thanks!

Don't climb here anymore, but all you sport pukes should definitely pitch in. Hell, I might even show up. If I try the 12b way off on climbers left you can get a good laugh too.

Ihateplastic:

Teamwhipper is about five days into a two week climbing trip to Kentucky and West Virginia. He expected to have only very occasional computer access. I'm sure he'll respond as quickly as he can, and I'm sure he'll appreciate your donations.

Why does the Sonora jailhouse need a facelift? It looks fine to me.

Another bump. This Saturday, come on out and put up fencing, gates, signage, do trail restoration, trail closure, etc. We're meeting at 9:30am at the gate of O'Byrnes Ferry Road between Shotgun Creek Estates and the hairpin turn. If you come help work on Saturday, you will be entered into a raffle to win some nice schwag, including some classy climbing T-shirts donated by I-hate-plastic, along with lots of goodies from Petzl, Mtn Hardwear, Madrock, and more. Plus you can meet the man, the myth, the LEGEND: Mungeclimber! Plus we will have pizza for lunch, and beer. Did I mention beer? It should be a rocking party; hope you can make it.
For more details, see Unlock Jailhouse on Facebook, or accessfund.org/jailhouse
And after Saturday, no more parking at the bridge by the lake. You will need the gate code to get into the property to climb. That will be at the access fund website (accessfund.org/jailhouse). Make sure you know the code before you go out starting November 13th.
Cheers
