A joyous birthday wish to Bryan Becker the Hobbit.
You are a giant among us.

If, because your too young, provincial or never get out of the gym, you don't know who this Colorado climbing legend is then take a minute to learn a little history from the Golden age of Black Canyon climbing.
Two words... Hallucinogen Wall.

Great respect to you ya Hobbit.

Happy B-day Bryan! (does he ever lurk here?, Allen would know)

I can't claim to know Bryan, but I've met him a few times and was even his "belay slave" one afternoon in Taylor Canyon when he was working on the Big Roof. Not sure if the line he was working on became Welcome to China or Double Time at Sue's. His compact strength and skill reminded me a bit of Rosholt.

Whoa! Met the Becker Pecker in the Garden of the Gods way back when. He will knott remember me, but that was a great day in my life. Despite the rope burns. This was before belay devices were the norm.

I had a friend on a hip belay on some .7 climb. Along comes Becker and his entourage. So Bryan ties in to our rope to do some exploration. One of his friends clips a sticht plate to my harness and threads the rope in. Problem was, it was knott a harness; just a chalk bag loop with an overhand knott. So after his friend turns away I shuck the plate and go back to the hip belay. Bryan reaches the pin and askes to get lowered. I was a noob and did not want to show it. So I lower him with the rope burning. Still have scars from that day.

Edit- Happy Bday Bryan.

Scott, Bryan doesn't bother with this stuff. Strangely he did get on facebook recently. Though I've already wished him a happy b day here's another one from me.. Yes the Denali Diamond with a single 9mm rope and a client. The only climbing picture in his house is from that climb.

Oh that was a bad morning. Chuckles had driven over to Manitou to do a show at "The Keg." Julie and i wisely got a classic Manitou cabin for the night to keep a good distance from the post show celebration. Chuck stayed with Becker.... Nonetheless we all rallied the next morning and went to Red Rock Canyon Park which is just south of the Garden of the Gods. Bryan brought a slingshot along and hit several famous old Black Canyon climbers with pebbles just as they were about to clip bolts to keep things sporting.
