Wish it wouldn't happen but the fossils that run the Olymics need sports that draw in the youngsters. Ice dancing just isn't as popular with teenagers as it used to be.

Well - if they go the route on Beach Volleyball, with the sport focused on women is skin tight outfits showing plenty of skin, I bet the Supertopo guys would be all too happy to see it added.

A number of Olympic medals have been awarded for climbing and mountaineering, going back to the 1930s. Formal competitions at the Olympics would be a new thing. Hopefully they won't be testing for non-performance enhancing drugs, though.

I knew Reilly would show up in this thread. I bet he had a moment of confusion similar to mine when he tried to figure out what you were talking about with "old fossils that run the Olympics" needing sports to draw in young people.

Oh -- those Olympics. The ones with people running and jumping and doing synchronized swimming.

I thought you meant the other Olympics. The ones I can see from my window. The ones where Reilly has often said the climbing only sort of sucks.

In some cases, NPED's actually enhance mental performance.

Great. There will probably be judging on style and form as well as toping out.

HaHaHa! Yean, as usual I was cornfused. I was all ready to flame somebody
for OCD (Olympic Choss Defamation).

ST (that's Stoopid Trivia) side note: our '78 AAC group that went to the
Pamirs was accorded some sort of honorary Olympic status or somesuch. Anyway,
we were supposed to be given the whole Oly uniform set but we were gone
before the cool jackets were done. We did get a bunch of clothes from Levi Strauss
but never did get the USA gud stuff. I lie in bed at night thinking what
that would bring on eBay today. I prolly woulda traded it for titanium
over there. Come to think of it, I think I did trade some Levis
for titanium. Back then you couldn't walk down the street in the good ol'
USSR without some hipster trying to buy your pants off you, right there, right now!
"Noo shto, comrade, am I 'sposed to walk back to the hotel in my Fruit of the Looms?"

edit:
I just remembered that Sylvester was the Levis connection. He's prolly
got all our USA jackets in his basement.
