I thought this was pretty funny when Randy Leavitt mentioned one day while surfing that he still had the original S.O.D. topo I wrote for him 30+ years prior. We (Jim, Dale and I)made a pact that there would be no "drawn" topos, so this is what I'm bringing to the game.

Jeezus! Amazing piece of history Double D!! I need a f*#king telescope to see whole sections of this route!! ..arguably the most nervewracking climb in the world when it was put up..
Dale Bard was quoted as saying he "was on fire" in 1977-1978.. I GUESS.. sheesh.. according to their topo he led SEVEN A5 pitches when it was his lead...CONSECTUTIVELY!!! HOLY FRAZZLEFEST!!! And DD and JB had seriously nasty pitches also!..what a f*#kin dream team!!
Soon after the SOD FA, Alan Bard inquired to Jim Bridwell in El Cap meadow regarding the subtle passage though a particularly blank section of the route..
The two squinted up and eyed the section for a while..
Finally, Bridwell exhales quietly, "I'm not quite sure"...
Hmmm..Pitch 4.."several one blow pins"
