Now there's an eclectic range of topics for you.

Nice weekend, starting off with the birthday party in Berkeley for Tom Franco (James' brother) at his gallery Friday night. Good looking dude, sort of hints back to a young Jim Morrison.

Saturday night in Mountain View at a wine, chocolate, and cheese judging party. Best Cab there: "Educated Guess", available at Whole Paycheck in MV. Rich flavor, very nice finish. Best chocolate: dark filled selection from Dolce Bella. Orgasmic!! Best cheese: a 5-year aged gouda. Multi-orgasmic!! Tantric!!

One couple there are fellow HAI devotees and climbers (though I cannot climb anymore). Nice couple. Fun chats about being naked at Harbin and old climbing memories.

Today I found out that Owsley Stanley -- maker/purveyor of the finest street LSD in the late-1960s -- died last month in Australia from injuries sustained in a car crash. I imbibed in his "crystal blue persuasion" back in the day. Nothing but good trips on his brew.

But this is really trippy about Owsley. Turns out he believed that we are meant to be 100% carnivores, no veggies or fruits or any carbs. He ate nothing but meat, cheeses, eggs, etc the last 30 years of his life. He claimed that carbs from any source -- natural or processed -- cause insulin to age us faster and increases our risk for cancers.

Was he right?

The trippiest thing is that he tripped and drove into a ditch in the 60's. And then died by driving into a ditch.

You get carbs from meat....but far less than from other sources.

Was he right?

He proved that it probably doesn't matter what you eat, because....

YER GONNA DIE!

(tip of the hat to Locker)

And it's probably going to be from something other than extreme old age.

Vegetarians live the longest, not meateaters. The oldest person is a Chinese woman who has been a vegetarian her whole life. She is 120. The oldest living vegetarian is 175. She is a Galapagos Island turtle.
Being a vegetarian does not have a small effect on life expectancy, but a huge effect as many studies have shown.

I have to agree with any and all positive comments about Purple Owsley.
Sorry to hear the guy died... we all have too.
Every trip has to end.

Mighty Hiker = Gnomic Master? Well, Mighty Hiker what thinks you? Am I you and are you me? A step up for you, but what's in it for me?

Has she known you and me for 30 years? I knew she was old, but that OLD?

I advocate dog meat and horse meat. Too many of those disgusting pooping critters fouling my planet. Let's eat 'em! Worthless parasites!

"Get a life"? My kids -- ages 21 to 26 -- would laugh at that out-dated phrase, so check yourself on that one, dude.
