I saw an e-bay link on the why are ropes so expensive tab, but the prices have gone up about 50% since I started looking (link below). Any other suggestions?

From Mucci's post:

There are plenty of deals on ropes on the Fleabay.

Reputable stores, excellent track records, and consistant customer relations.

These stores are similar to say Marmot in berkely, yet have a larger online showcase.

If you go through a half dozen ropes or more a year, Ebay is your ticket.

Like this seller, who I have purchased 2 ropes from in the past.

This rope is $220 in REI right now.

Best thing is to keep track of the EMS sales and pounce when they hit 30%

50%? i think not.
Sterling Rope prices have remained flat for last 3 years.
70m cost more because it's 70 METERS...
and since it's made in the USA it supports jobs and taxes in the state of Maine..
suck it up..

I'll back you up on this one. On March 9th I bought that exact deal on ebay, that same buyer. It was in the morning, and the price was $168. Later that day I checked in on my purchase for shipping details, and much to my surprise I saw that the rope was on sale for $134. So I called the seller, and they were totally gracious about refunding me the difference.

So I bought this same rope (Edelweiss 70m 10.3 bi-pattern) for $134 about 20 days ago.

BREAKING NEWS: Literally, as I sit here, the ropes on sale for $126. Great deal.

(You would think I work for the company with that kind of pitch. I don't.)
