heythere all, say...

newest info from a gal, in australia:

its still dark in Aussie so they haven't been able to go out and check the damage. The cyclone made landfall during the night and has knocked the power out so it must be very frightening to be hunkered down in the dark listening to that. It'll be dawn in Aussie in about an hour so they'll be able to start assessing the damage then but the storm shows no sign of abating just yet...am following it on the news here...

hoping for the best...

I got a text last night form my wife's brother, who was being evacuated from his place in Cairns to a new hotel that was recently built on the waterfront with a "cylone proof" basement.

I've tried to contact him this morning but no luck so far. I'm guessing email and cell phone communication is down right now.

I think they have had enough "Down Under". Hopefully this won't be too terrible for them.

hey here john mac.... not sure what this means exactly, but a gal posted on another forum, and from what she said, it seemed like there was no loss of life, but a big mess, however...

i will recheck, and see if that is from what her newsreports there say, or if that was "here say"... give me a few minutes...

i will be back...

hey there say, john mac...

this is what she posted, "today" wed (her time):

Hi Mo,

News reports this morning from Queensland indicate no lives lost fortunately. Although damage is widespread and many houses are severely damaged, it seems that so far from what can be ascertained, that the outcome wasn't as bad as feared. Guess everyone's storm preparations and evacuations paid off. Many areas have lost power and can't be contacted so it will be some time before we know the final outcome.
A second more severe storm front is, at 9.30am reports, approaching now.

hope this is of help... and hope this is accurate, as to what she heard...

god bless...
:)
