Ran across one on the flea bay for a price.

Looks better than anything on the climbing shelf.

Anybody use one of these?

Nice accessories and replaceable foam padding. Cool.

They sell a stripped version of the plasma, no earphone jack.

That visor is starting to look real good for the FA work!

I was an early adopter of construction hard hat technology for climbing:

First time we went to climb the Vegas Hosemonster, my partner forgot his helmet in CA. With no other options, one of us (I forget who) had the idea to go by Home Depot for a hard hat. Sure enough, for about $8 we found some thin piece of shite, Caltrans orange, plastic hard hat. Drilled some holes in the side with an awl from a Swiss Army knife or somesuch to get a chinstrap to hold it on. Then back to Charleston to send the rig.

I've done it twice now, but that first time was super, super sketchy. My buddy, with his Caltrans cap, led the final pitch, which was super thin and detached. He had to pick out little holes for his tools in super thin ice, hook the holes, move up, and then put one frontpoint in the hole. It was one of the proudest leads I'd ever seen at the time. A fall would have put him onto his final screw, which couldn't have held even body weight safely, some 15 feet below his feet. When that pulled, as it surely would have, he would have cratered on the lower angle ice just above the crux (in normal conditions) second pitch pillar, then over the lip of the pillar an on down. My hands are getting sweaty just thinking of it.

I went on to do some pretty hard stuff in my day (hard for me anyhow), but that lead, even thinking back after all these years, stands out as a real display of calm in a very, very serious situation.

Cheers to my partner John, iffin he lurks around here at all.

Best lid I have ever had.

Makes all other helmets seem inferior, both in comfort and Radness.

Oh and there are mesh screens covering the ventilation holes.

So no worries when a hummock drops it's load on you.
