I have some Trango Harpoon Crampons..;
(this kind)
and the orange piece on the back broke. Does anyone know how I can get a replacement part for it? Would be it off someone if they had them cheap.

Check the Trango website--I bet they sell spares--I know
that Black Diamond does.

I'd just make a new one myself, actually. Got any free time?
Pick a better material, is all. Plastic sucks.
Seriously. No offense....just idle speculation.

I think almost any heel throw that will allow you to thread the nylon through it will work. Be best to try before you buy of course.
You're lucky, Trango is a US company right? Getting replacement parts for Grivel crampons was a trick, fortunately I have a source now.

ok I have a question,
since you did not have the judgement to buy better crampons,
but bought the diamond c stuff,
now that they (no surprise Sherlock) broke, why
W H Y would you keep using them?????
or
why not go machine two new parts to replace the other piece,
before it breaks???
Einstein defined insanity... how did it go?

If Trango can't help you out,try calling the Mountaineer in Keene Valley, Ny (518) 576-2281. They have a reputation of having lots of old and random parts for ice gear.
Bryce - I had a hard time finding Grivel parts too, but the MEC up here in Calgary has a great selection of parts!

EdB, it's a Trango crampon, not a Chouinard/BD. Relax the agenda for a second. Heel throws are plastic, they break sometimes, it's not the end of the world.
Prezwoodz, those are heel throws, they are common on crampons and some telemark bindings. They're mostly all about the same shape. I bet that emailing or calling Trango will get you help, but if they don't have one, a heel throw from another brand could likely be substituted. A ski shop that sold telemark stuff might have one.

Thanks for the assistance everyone. I'll give Trango a ring. Basically I was testing the waters to see if anyone here wanted to sell me a cheap one.
Ed I bought these for $20. Then they broke after my girlfriend tried to jam them on. They are a backup pair tis all and I don't have to throw something away and get a new one just because it broke. Also I am not to good at Machining things although I wouldn't mind the learning.
