Someone once described the bouldering around Bishop as 'better than Hueco or Font even' - probably some over-enthusiastic guidebook writer trying to promote the area.

Hi Mick, Thanks.

Very nice write-up for the area.

When you coming home?

I moved here PM (post Mick) but I've heard many a tale. That is a very thorough article, I must say.

We'll blame the crowds this winter on him. Of course everybody already does, ha ha. If we see a bunch of visiting brits this year, we'll know why. And hopefully share a pint or two with them.

Actually there are some Brits out there who gave me a boulder pad when they left the country because they couldn't take it on the plane. I still have it. If you guys are out there and coming back- let me know. Stop in at the Black Sheep and ask if anyone knows where Tom is. I can lend it out to your friends too.

My real question- where are these areas? Are they names for places I know? Or are they places I haven't been? Deep in the White Mountains, Pinyon Boulders, Gray Rim Boulders, Royston Vasey they sound intriguing.

Hi Tom,

You would have to ask a real local for that information.

And what a kind offer about lending the pads out.

You are a star!

All the best,

I have an idea on at least two of those areas. The white mountains stuff, I think has been discussed on this forum. It won't get over run. It's too far out, neither will Heaven, if it's where I think it is.

Heck, you essentially published the hall of mirrors, nobody goes there.

Now this is journalism. Pulitzer nomination? Perhaps a Nobel for literature?

Hi Tom,

Google Earth is good

# Deep in the White Mountains

East of Barcroft Field Station...granite boulders and crags, meadows, beautiful.

# Gray Rim Boulders

Sherwin Plateau. North rim of Gorge, about a mile south of Crowley. First right after going over the dam....walk to rim. Beautiful bullet hard mini buttresses, awkward landings in some cases, take several pads and friends.

Further along south are bigger cliffs with some bolt routes on.

# Pinyon Boulders

Sherwin Plateau. Near the Catacombs.... north of there in a beautiful grove of Pines

# Royston Vasey

You'll never leave!!!! This is a local town for local people (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royston_Vasey);

Sherwin Plateau. South Rim. Go luck, look. Down slope... boulders and cliffs, golden high quality tuff. Should be routes here. Some great problems.

Russ - could probably tell you more. If you cross his palms with gold.

Looking forward to going back as Tim told me about the areas on the Tableland that have been developed.

Mick - It seems that you (or at least whoever put together the "Bishop Bouldering 2010 by Alex Quiring" vidi) is on the side of good music...

Trentemøller "Weshare Our Mother's Health"...

Great choice of videos.

Thanks for bringing me back for a good look.

Cheers
