I heard somewhere that Tuolumne is the Keketuohai National Geological Park of California. But then, someone once told me that the Matterhorn is the Assiniboine of the Alps.

Huh, I got an error that said "Based upon your browsers history it has been determined that you are not cool enough to view Patagonia websites, including the cleanest line. Document some serious acts of hipness or apparent effortless rejection of the status quo, forward to Patagonia and you might be granted access upon review of content."

If you can't get to the Patagonia Site or want more climbing photos make sure to check out Hayden's Blog:
Hayden was in China with Tommy and the rest of the crew. Looks like the team put up a few new routes.

[Kazakhs herding their sheep down the canyon. Photo: Rebecca Caldwell]
Wasn't Tommy Caldwell & Beth involved in the death of a Kazak while illegally climbing in Kazakhstan a few years back? I'm glad to see they are on the up-and-up w/ the park...but I never saw them come really clean about what happened. They are always clawing for coverage so my feeling was they they just swept that murder under the rug.

Old and Weak. What a stupid thing to say. They were kidnapped and taken hostage. The guy did not die when they escaped, although at the time they thought he did. The story was in all the magazines, can't you read?
I've never seen Tommy trying to get coverage. He seems pretty reclusive to me. Just a very badass climber who loves what he does and it shows.

nice granite!! and cool slideshow with commentary!
-old and weak (aka - stupid bitch)
seriously how do you think that accusing someone on a public forum of murder without including the whole story is the right thing to do?? the story goes that the climbers in kazhak maybe should not have been there but that does not give the kazhak rebel any right to hold them hostage at gunpoint. who knows if they would have survived if they had not taken action. if anyone held you hostage at gunpoint you better just drop to your knees and smile and start sucking c*#k because you are a bitch. to fight for your life is a right that we all have.
what was your point anyway?? it seems like tommy is never out for the limelight he gets it because he is so good.

Any more climbing pics of the area ? Looks schweet!

BTW, Old and weak, I heard that it was later determined that the sheep did the lonely old man in as a revenge killing....although no one wanted to step in later and ask the main question lurking in the back of everyone's minds: "Revenge for what?"
I could be confusing that story for one that involved the Old Man, the Sheep, 3 midgets, 50 lbs of Crisco a Hula-Hoop and a Tricycle though.....

WOW that rock looks yummy! Hope the world can see more of it in the future.
that was great how the "head of security" finally came around and tried climbing.
Perhaps that's all climbing in China will need to win people over, just their trying it.

This lace looks beautiful now. But imagine it in 5-10 years. I fear it will be yet another disgusting tourist trap in China, complete with a sh#t ton of street peddlers selling comically overprices trinkets to western tourists that don't know any better.
