Thinking about purchasing a ledge for the fall season.
If price is similar,
Discuss pro's and con's of the ledge itself, fly options, etc...

Hope this helps
FISH ledge:
* You can get a new one, don't have to worry about what is getting to be older nylon/rotting cord, worn buckles or straps, etc. (When were the A5 ledges last made? Not sure here, but I watched one blow out over the course of a wall a few years back)
* Fly is probably the most secure wrap-around fly available. Corner lock-downs so that the wear protection on the fly stays over the corners where they touch the wall and you don't rip the material when you're setting it up.
* Blow holes are big enough to prevent condensation and to stick your head out to see whats going on, also good for dumping coffee grounds or whatever.
* New material on the fly is lighter and even more bomber than old FISH fly
* The daisy chains on the suspension strap are super convenient
* The "continuous loop" of the elastic strap in the FISH ledge means you never get totally fubar-ed by your suspension setup, if you've been there with some other ledges, you know what I mean. The FISH is more foolproof.
* Can get it custom made without the deviders and with options like extra daisies along the ledge if you like
* FISH will service the ledge, making repairs, giving you a new suspension when/if you wear yours out, replacing poles, etc.
A5 Ledge:
* The coolest thing here is the option of a doored wrap-around fly. Though I will say that these can be a real bear to get the ledge into if its even somewhat windy. I've tried it with the BD and watched to pretty accomplished partners do it. It has to be done "just so" and if you don't do it that way, you better have a will of steel and be a lot calmer than me. (The extra overlap on the FISH fly may make it *almost* as good as A5, but you still lose most heat with updrafts...and those happen often in a cold storm.
FLY OPTIONS: Seriously consider a Bibler I-tent. Full wrap-around coverage, doors, very simple set-up, and you still have a great protected bivy on the base or summit. Comes with a door and todd-tex material is simply fantastic at handling condensation. Plus, if you ever use someone elses ledge or end up with a different one, your fly is still good. You can set up the I tent on any flat surface. I think its about 4 pounds, not much more than a regular fly, probably less than the A5 wrap around model.
Important if you're tall - the FISH ledge is only 6'6" (or so) long, I'm not sure how long the A5 that you are looking at is.
My ledge is a FISH double with extra daisies along the side poles and no center divider. I flag it and drag it up the rock, it really gets some abuse. After using an older A5 and an new BD single for a long time, the FISH is much preferred.

I'm 6'4 and have no issues with my Fish single.

Make your own. Can be done for only ~$300 in materials no sweat.
Just pay no attention to my $3k collection of sewing machines...
