I flew by a couple of passes in my glider. Looked to be 10 or so folks on top and a couple of parties on the E face.

We were sitting around camp at Iceberg Lake on Saturday and saw you fly by. We were on Whitney Thursday and on Keeler Friday. I saw a glider go by us on one of those days as well but I don't remember which day it was. I would love to do that sometime. Do you take passengers?

Nice pix Q! Looks like my ship but cannot say definitively. Lots of gliders running the Sierra and Inyo/Whites from Minden, Tehachapi/Cal City and Truckee to points north and south and typically return.
I flew my AS-W20 from Tehachapi to Luning, NV to near Lida Junction and back to CalCity for about 450 mile triangle course. Longest flights that day exceeded 600 miles.
My glider has one seat so tough to give rides and the aggressive nature of the flying (lots of g's, many steep circles and duration of flights) make it pretty tough on the passenger for a one-time ride. Kind of like climbing, one needs to ease into it. Soar Nevada in Minden has the ability to give such rides and Caracole Soaring in Cal City bases out of Lone Pine for a few weekends each year. They would be your best bet for a ride. Contact Cindy at Caracole for details.
The X-C glider community shares the beauty and wonder of the world with climbers in addition to the rich experiences of calculated risk, melding with the environment and partaking of its energy.
