Just my annual rant.
Kids Days number 364.25 days / year and I love those days more than anything. However, apparently, there is this mythical day called 'Father's Day' that occurs on the 3rd Sunday in June every earth year. While I have lived this 24 hour period over the past 14 years as a dad, virtually no part of this day belongs to me. And I'm not counting my time on the crapper which will be extended into the Gangrenous legs territory on Sunday. Yeah, I get breakfast in bed [after I sneak out for a run and then climb back into bed]. Then I sever a mandatory relaxation period of approximately 6 hours... I can only hope for good World Cup and US Open coverage. Then the party starts. And I still have to help clean up the mess afterwards.
Father's Day should be *my* day and I want to go climbing. Instead, we're having a party for me, the dad. I hope the kids stock the cooler...
Go me!

I AM a Father and my favorite way of spending it is WITH my family! There will be a day when I imagine both of my kids will have their own fathers day to celebrate, and I'll be wishing for my old Fathers Day back. Happy Fathers Day to all you Dad-dudes out there and make the best of it however you get to spend it.....and don't forget YOUR Dad!
Peace

Had Dad out for a week's visit. I mortified myself playing golf with him twice in one week. Spoiled him with lots of delicious meals - cooked by me or a good restaurant. Made him strawberry shortcakes - whipped cream and shortcakes from scratch and the strawberries from my garden. Listened to all his advice. He is 76 and now requires a little more supervision. We watched old movies until he started snoring every night.
My husband HAS to climb with me on Father's Day, but I'll let him pick the crag and the food. He will get to decide what routes we do, and who will lead.
