Looks like I will be attending a very large family reunion in may come this august.
This is pretty early, but wanted the low down on the climbing out there. We are staying at a place in Prospect Harbor, which I gather is about 30mi north of Bar Harbor.
Any info would be great!

You need this book, to get started.

Acadia National Park has some brilliant climbing, mostly 1-2 pitches but clean granite with grand views, including a few sea cliffs. Good bouldering too. Bring a rope and a rack.

If I had an edit button, I'd fix the book link above to read

Bryan,

Give me a shout when you get out this way -- I'll give you a tour of Acadia's finest.

The bouldering's sweet, but with really lame landings (especially around monument cove), so I highly recommend a bouldering pad and bringing or making friends. The rock's all quality, and a lot of the low-traffic areas have proud routes on them. August is gorgeous weather for stuff right along the coast- the sea breeze is priceless!
And Jeff Butterfield literally wrote the book on the area, so you should listen to him rather than to me.

Hey Bryan,

I went to college in Maine. It's an awesome place. Definitely take Jeff Butterfield up on his generous offer. He's the author of a guidebook to the area(referenced above) and probably knows the place better than anyone.

He's too polite to market his own site here so I'll do it for him. There's a few pics on the site that will give you a taste of what climbing in Maine is like.
