Oddly the both call collinear parking "parallel parking". Shouldn't "parallel parking" be reserved for the kind of parking found in parking lots and the wide western town streets.
Please advise.

Hmmm. Never really thought about it. Maybe "parallel" refers to the position of the vehicle wrt the curb.
