So where are the !@#$%^& routes?

I couldn't find any and gave up.

Also, the stats––and some headers––are the ubiquitous link-color, but in fact are not clickable.

The huge problem with the site is I spent several minutes trying to find some routes,
but came up empty handed after a heroic effort. WTF?

Several testimonials on the index page––but no routes...

Is it set up for IE only? I tried it in Mozilla, and there was one problem with the look.

I did a route search for alpine, and went to choose an area and there was no entry for Sierra Nevada. Big oversight there.

Not a bad start, but needs lots of work. Keep trying.

Ugh! Perhaps mountaindog has visited ST before and knew what was bound to happen when he threw his baby to the wolves. I can only hope so. ST can be a rough place and you better be thick skinned.

I'm sure you invested a lot of hours and you at least deserve polite feedback. You wouldn't have taken the idea this far if you didn't believe in it. Keep in mind that the people who think your idea is cool probably wouldn't bother to post a response. Try to weed out the helpful feedback from this unruly crew with out taking the flames too personally.

I applaud anyone trying to make a honest living.
Everyone gives ol' Chris Mac the big thumbs up for this site, which didn't take a rocket scientist to create or organize. But they also don't seem to think he does this for the money, just the 'community service' it provides. These same people get their panties in a bind when someone else tries the same idea out. Hypocrites!
I do agree however, on the logo. Pretty cheesy. Everything else looks pretty good.
Not making your website a dating game is a pretty good idea. There are other ways to find love. But I guess the desperate find it where they can, eh?
Don't let the bastards grind you down. Keep kicking up the dust!

Craig, hopefully you have pretty tough skin. I look after a climbing website so I know how much time goes into it. I think the site has some pretty good features and has lots of potential. Also people will generally complain about a site rather than give positive feedback so you need to take the comments with that in mind.

"Is it set up for IE only? I tried it in Mozilla, and there was one problem with the look."

It seemed fine to me in Mozilla Firefox 1.07.

Actually, I will part company with the rude(stupid) SOB's here. It is a very nice site. Click on "Route Search" at the top, highlight the parameters of your ability, and then highlight the area you want to climb and all the routes in that range pop up. The only drawback I saw was the information depends on user information and some of it was kind of vague.

I agree with what David said above, you have to have thick skin on this site, and it would be hoped that a serious request for feedback would be met with something other than immature rants from people too stupid to figure it out. But, this IS ST and that would be expecting too much.

What's the problem with that? Dumbf*#k! You just sit there and take welfare checks from the government while your fat girlfriend eats ice cream, drinks beer, and watches soaps as the diapers from six screaming kids pile up on the kitchen floor.

F*#king idiot!

Mike, sorry for lumping everyone together. Here are the posts I am referencing:

Self explanatory. Stupid, useless post.

Nothing helpful here on trying to improve the site. Just a snoty comment about how useless it is to him.

"So where are the !@#$%^& routes?"

Try "route search"

" My guess is your poor site will be still-birth in the manner of that pitiful abortion called Camp4.com, i.e. waste of bandwidth."

Another useless, snotty comment

I think if it goes somewhere, it could get useful. Right now, until people start posting routes, it doesn't have much to offer. I do like the ability to sort by grade and style (trad, etc).

I noticed that someone listed for "gear" on a trad climb "Top rope anchor". Man, if you could only slap someone via the internet.

I also like the sun exposure feature. Another good one for us east coast climbers is to denote possible rainy day routes. Rain is so common at the New that the guidebook has a little umbrella logo next to climbs that stay dry in the rain. Maybe a "best in winter" etc for those south facing roasters, or "best in summer" for ones that are always shady.

I just loved it, loved it, loved it! wait a sec, I'am drunk.

Ok, not the best but not all that bad, It just needs to mature a bit. A little bit of a tune up, By a pro, will bring it all togeather. Work on it. Have fun with it.

I appreciated everyone who made a thoughtful comment... I figured I would probably receive 90% useless stuff. i.e.:

To clarify no one is making any money off the site. Its free.
