Someone stole Chad's boots from his high cache, aborting his speed attempt? Anyone know if Dan A#@&%e was down there at the time?
Thinking about that side of the mountain is always sad for me, it's where Guy Andrews, the first friend I lost to climbing, died on the first alpine style ascent in 1980. Yup, same trip, it's always left me with a grim feeling about that side of the peak.
Chad's new line sounds really bold, and scary too, I don't mean to take any well deserved congratulations away from him due to my emotional associations. Modern alpinism really amazes me, we've come a long way in 30 years, and Chad Kellog is a talented individual.
