the "deer" indeed is a Chamois
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rupicapra

the real deers are in mating phase right now in the dolomites area..the males can be heard "calling" for love ;-) through the eraly morning fog ;-)

so sad that so many streets cross the enchanted area of the Dolomites..and so many dumbass motorbikers decide to test their "skills" on these turns...

Really nice! Makes me look forward to next spring, in case we get a good weather window while visiting family over there.

I'm already planning my 2015 trip to the Dolomites. The 2014 trip was really a bust due to weather.

Kool Stefano. I am planning to go to Arco/Sarca Valley in May/June and head into the Dolomiti late June until late September. Mainly interested in bigger classic routes ( up to VI+/VII) but have a good idea of lower level and smaller stuff for bad weather alternatives. Where do you live there?

Thanks again for posting here Stefano. Exciting to see some things I have done. The Cima Cason di Formin, which is the striking left hand arete in the Croda di Lago, visible from the Cinque Torri hut's porch, the Primo Spigolo and Constantini-Apollonio on the Tofane, and the Diretta Dimai on the Torre Grande which we did by your direct Variante. So, two of your three and one next to the Lastroni del Formin, but I'm not sure which side. All are wonderful days. You make me want to go back. Cheers!

Stefano-

I climbed the Diretta Dimai a long time ago...1964. At the time, it was mixed aid and free climbing, but was still memorable. The first 3 pitches, if I recall correctly, are the start to Via Miriam? I vividly remember the exposed traverse that you have shown in your excellent photographs.

You are so lucky Stefano!! Climbed there just last September and I am drooling to go back, climb and mtn bike too.
It was hard to get some US buddies to join, I hope that maybe I can find another round of peeps. Would love some more beta from you.e stayed on the Sella/Piz Pordoi and Vajolet area, but want to spend more time in Tofanes area. Any favorites there?

ehy, the Tofana has great climb on its 3 main ridges

1st ridge - the classical Alvera`/Pompanin 1946 (350m 5.9)
2nd ridge - the Castiglioni/Ghedina (600m 5.10)
2nd ridge (face) - the Costantini/Apollonio (600m 5.10+)

all world class climbing
