Spring break! Wooooo!
Saturday March 29, 2014 2:48pm
Requisite gear shot. Why does a casual 3 day trip always end up feeling like prepping for a polar expedition?

Don't worry, we bought more beer.

That's okay, we'll go find Sierra Point instead. Rain turned to snow about 500' above the valley floor.

View from the top, clouds breaking just enough to glimpse Lower Yosemite Falls.

Apparently my wife doesn't like being dipped over an 800' drop-off by her beer-swilling husband. Go figure...

Requisite shoe shot. (Please ignore the fact that everyone in view is responsible but you can see my helmet hanging from a tree branch.)

Or not! Three cheers for blowing off responsibility in favor of another day of climbing!

Nice....but it looks like hot chocolate would have been more appropriate than beer.

Nice trip report....lovely pics, beautiful misty stuff and fun climbing.

Oh boy....read Death in Yosemite a chronicle of the deaths in Yose for about the past 80 years....scary how many were from ramping up a photo op..."just a little closer to the edge"..."hey, go wade in the pool above the falls, it'll be a great pic". ..
Looks like "a good time was had by all"

We came to the same conclusion: the second night we grabbed some Silly Cow from Pioneer Market and the missus toasted us marshmallows under the broiler. Delicious!

Full disclosure: that pic is like those "jump over the Grand Canyon" trick shots-from a slightly different angle you'd see that we're only about 4' above a broad, grassy ledge (less dramatic that way, though...)

Next time bring better beer
Surprisingly the Olympia grew on me pretty quickly, especially as a summit beer. We also had Deschutes Red Chair for relaxing back at the cabin.

Full disclosure
I was pretty sure you were safely horsing around...most climbers seem to have a greater respect for horse play that could lead to dire consequences. Death in Yosemite is still a good, if not sometimes gruesome, read.
I'm retired now. I'm on permanent spring break. Sorry couldn't resist bugging another Santa Cruzan.

No worries. Honestly, I was kinda expecting to get called on it.

Fortunately I'm surrounded by adventurous people who were prepared for whatever the weather threw at us (the bright yellow monstrosity I was wearing is my FD rain coat: nothin's getting through that!, and we didn't have to worry about YOSAR finding us), so we were able to make something fun happen every day.
