Shenanigans: Moonlight Ascent of The Vampire
Sunday September 12, 2010 1:30pm
Roberto and I had the brilliant idea to go climb The Vampire at night during the full moon. It's a 5.11a multipitch at Tahquitz. To make it even better, it was his onsight attempt of the route.

Haha that was fun to watch, thanks for sharing! I see you do not subscribe to the Mark Twight school of thought when it comes to attitude towards routes, I don't think he ever made mandatory stops at party city en route to climb. He probably wasn't having as much fun :)

Keep it up!

Mark, I'd climb with you any time... I'm sure Roberto would too. If you're ever in So Cal, send an e-mail.

We do costumes occasionally. I think we'll get more ridiculous as time goes by. J-Tree season is coming, so we'll have to find some ridiculous stuff to do there this year.

Mark Twight has a quote, "It doesn't have to be fun to be fun." I like to add to that, "But sometimes when it's fun, it's REALLY fun..."

One of my all time favorite routes in the world!!
Lots of laughter from you two, the mushrooms must have been as of high quality just like the climb. Ehh?

Nice work!

Way to dig up some oldies but goodies Nate. I think we're doing costumes again this year.

On-sightless! LOL!

Do any of you ever climb in costume?

Great trip report :). A friend and I climbed Shagadelic in 1970s polyester 1970s duds. And we yelled "Yeah baby!" at every belay. But that is as close to climbing in costume as I have gotten so far.

Humor Bump!!
I love the costume ascent jive.
But dude, Halloween is still in front of us.
We'll be expecting something even scarier coming right up.
Better start planning!!

One comment. It seems like a small thing because a click to the link is so freekin' easy. But I would still suggest moving some pictures directly into the TR.

Thanks again guys!

Thanks for the humor bump! There will be some fun out in J-Tree for sure this fall, but I'm not sure it'll end up as a trip report. As far as putting pictures in the trip report here, is there a way to crosslink instead of uploading each one? I used to be able to do that using something like but that doesn't seem to work anymore.

Josh,
I still like to use photobucket for pics because I can do a copy and paste type function on the image code and have larger images too.

The ST function is handy but they come out smaller.

I still have to do it one at a time, but once I have PB open, it's faster than the 4-5 little steps from the ST function. Maybe it's just me.....

Did you check out the photo size on the Rambles and Mules TR?

Roberto was onsighting too right? I thought that mantle-ish sequence into the 1st belay was tricky enough to figure out in daylight. Nice jorb.

Ah... the Halloween plans... They're slowly formulating. I have one last grueling week left of work and school and then I'm FREE! Then it's time to start making more ridiculous plans and having fun. I'm so burned out. I should be working on a presentation on prions right now and I can't seem to give a damn...

We have some non-halloween costume related plans, but not everything should be broadcast on the internet before it happens. We'll hopefully have some more good trip reports of various kinds up in the next month or so, and that might be one of them. We also just had the first annual PH marathon which was a huge success, and I'm working on a TR from last summer that I haven't gotten around to writing yet.
