EDIT: Many of you have viewed this TR from last year. It was mis-titled, as you can see. It should have read 9'll"/13. It's part of why I call myself a "tard climber," see...
But more to the point, there are pix from THIS YEAR'S 9/11 Event in Merced near the bottom, with today's REAL date (don't be confused, I'm confused enough for all of us...and I hope you'll enjoy them and REMEMBER WHY!

My fellow Americans.

Gotta love them. Our silly Tee Shirts and all our Hoopla serve a purpose.

What that is, you decide.

I'm just the messenger and I feel like I just completed a long, long climb.

It is a labor of love and a genuine show of respect for all the Supertopo posters and lurkers that I made this so long and have only pictures to show for it.

The captions were inspired by some Cosmic Forces out in the desert.

Part TWO.
Veterans' Day Parade. Same bunch of Chrome Cowboys, but a different mix of the community, by a margin. A lot of running, er, hobbling--good for me, though.

I'm gonna run this set by you first. My favorite contingent, the Hmomg community set up this band of qeej (just say it like "ng" and it's probably close enough) players who do some delightful moves with this odd-sounding stringed thingie.
Their "sergeant" has them well in hand, and their performance was tops.

And then there are the rest, vets and participants and machines, sergeants galore and a good number of drum majors, SIR!!So long from Merced.

I missed the ceremony happening over in Courthouse Park before this parade began. I wasn't informed of it, so didn't make plans.

But I did my duty to Supertopo and my country, JB, even though there was no plan the planet kept spinning to the right. Thank God for that, eh?

This whole she-bang took like an hour and a half, longer than Labor Day's parade. Talk about a lot of organizing, too! And the route extended for three blocks more than the last one, due to the problems.

One last time, a big, hearty welcome home and

drljefe and I had the opportunity to camp and share campfire time with a Vietnam Vet named Jim Lozano. He was amazing to talk to and will forever be in my heart. One morning he and Jefe took turns on the guitar... singing and playing under the slight clouds of the desert. It was amazing to witness.
It was also great to wake up on Nov. 11th in JTree, share coffee with him and sincerely thanked him for his service and his realness.

So what if I blew the year in the title when I posted this last 9/11/13.

I haven't a clue how many people saw this TR without commenting. Can one of the techies please point me in the direction of the number of views? I'd like to satisfy my curiosity...and bump this because it's that horrible date again.

I have more pix from this afternoon; these are only a select few, mind you; and let me say that American cars are the only ones I would allow in today's picture line-up...no VWs, cuz there's a separate thread. No rice-burning motorcycles, either, if I ccould avoid them.

say, thanks so much!! very wonderful share of folks, being a community together... and for to give honor, to those lost, during that 9-11 terrible day...

yep--you are our choice reporter, mouse...
and the bump was well done, it caught a morning commuter...
i am commuting my ol' self to bed, now, after working all night on stuff... :))
