Trip Report
New Routes in Kings Canyon
Friday June 10, 2016 11:42am
Two reports about several new routes that ended up being really good. Lots of photos in the linked reports and more than plenty here! I would post them in full and write more about them but I have literally no time. Today is the last day at work and I am heading into the mountains as soon as I am done...for like the next 6 months.

Hopefully Daniel will upload the beta to SEKIclimbing.com and those who want, can go climb them! Or do other new routes in the area! There is a lot of rock!

Practice on artificial cracks in the climbing gym helped a lot!
I thought of Mei's PG cracks thread when we were climbing both the short OW on Chasing the Wind and the chimney on P4 of Eddie's Crack--"I've done these moves in the gym a thousand times!"

Leading through aggressive cliff-trees, excavating chunks of dirt and succulent from steep cracks in hopes of finding any gear, and coming to the absolute end of the rope at a base of a beautiful, perfect, clean splitter...heartbreaking.

Awesome photos; you're gonna have a productive 6 months!!

Man In Heat is an awesome route name.

Original was MEN in heat. And we called it that before actually climbing the thing, or figuring out where are we gonna start. Haha great day out, highly recommend this route. It is like Charlotte dome, but with different rock, a step up from the Charlotte dome as far as the length and runouts. The approach from the west is way shorter, less bushwhacking. Pitches are more sustained I thought. And very original place with views that are hard to get otherwise.

With a 70m rope one wouldn't have to simulate climb to get to anchors..

And if anyone knows what they are doing and want to add a few bolts, welcome to do so!

Just so beautiful up there... Appreciate your reports, as always! Hope you're doing well. Six months to roam sounds spectacular - enjoy and we'll maybe see you out there.
