Trip Report
New 10 pitch 5.10 on the East face of Mt. Carillon (Sierras)
Wednesday July 23, 2008 4:52pm
Just thought I'd let loose with a little spray for my buddies Shay and Andre who put up a new route on the east face of Mt. Carillon last weekend: "Sweet Carillon", 5.10, 10 pitches.

Looks like there's some pretty sweet climbing on this thing!

Check out the trip report here.

Awesome work man. New routing in the Sierras is proud stuff. Hopefully many more will enjoy your route for a long time. Sounded like full value.

Thanks!
This was my first FA in the mountains (im Shay) and it was an awesome experience. The beautiful thing about the route is that its only 3 hours from the trailhead and although its accessed from Whitney Portal, its not in the Whitney region. Thus skirting the whole Whitney permit lottery issue.

Actually, it is in the Whitney region, but the Whitney region can go f*#k itself.

Up to LBSL you are cool, then when you veer off trail to the north nobody will ever see you.

at the risk of sounding like a dork from all the red wine I'm savoring right now.... the contempt I (& many others) have for the Whitney Zone complications are assuaged by your awesome TR & pix. Thanks!

I love the Sierras. There is so much potential for adventure still. The weekend before our ascent Nate and Kostas put up a new 6 pitch route on the Cleaver, which is right next to Carillon. That thing looks steep!! They called it Cleavage Dreamer III 5.10 A1.
