it is limestone with very few yellow rock in...
the wall is called Schittenwand or so... wich in german means the sliced wall

Very nice. I must add that your pictures show me that those 1926 climbers knew their craft well. And you two must be in terrific shape for doing all of this (including the bicycle and walking approach) in a day.

mmm my longest approaches with heaviest packs have always been in US and Canada though ......not sure this can be considered a long approach by US backcountry standards...you guys have plenty of miles to walk to get to climb

thinking about some approaches in the sierra or so.....
