WARNING: THIS TRIP REPORT CONTAINS EXACTLY TWO CLIMBING PICTURES. IF THIS OFFENDS YOU, PLEASE TURN BACK NOW.
This is me, Kovar. I teach second grade and spring break has sprung.
Too much whisky and ears ringing from the Guttermouth (read: loud, punk) show the night before has left me bruised and battered for the 12+ hours of travel ahead. At the show, I had broken my glasses and my partner had lost his phone while drunkenly participating in the pit. A wonderful start to the week ahead. With tapped up glasses and less one phone, our 6am start bled into the double digits after a much needed breakfast at Reno's awesome Cafe De Luxe.
Nevada on the 80 reminds me of Nebraska on the 80. Long and unchanging.
Still hungover hours later in Wells at...
The view from our booth, such a lovely town.
and then more of this...
Almost to SLC...
No Utah, I will not.
And then things went dark...
Woke up here...
and don't get it twisted, John Wayne stayed here...
We ended up here, not to shabby...
Let me apologize for the lack of climbing pictures if you've bothered to scroll this far. I am horrible at taking pictures while belaying or just forget to do it in general. I'll hopefully add some climbing pics when I pilfer the pictures off of my buddy's camera...
Got some climbing in at the Blue Gramma area. I got spit out of the top of some unnamed 5.9 and got my first taste of flailing for the week. My training program: scotch, training for the Creek on face climbs at the gym, and a healthy aversion to ab workouts seemed to have failed me. I'll have to rethink that one.
Random pic time:
First stop, The Wall. What a short approach...
"I love walking up hill, yay!!!"
Climbing partner and Brown Dog.
Looking out from The Wall
Alright, here comes a climbing picture...
and a dark walk out...
Day Two, The Cat Wall...
or not...
So we drove the to the closest AT&T store for a new phone. Grand Junction, CO.
We stopped in beautiful downtown Cisco on the way. A cultural oasis in the middle of nowhere...
Next day we added to the gang bang a Supercrack Buttress... me with a tweaked shoulder, my partner with a pretty thick head cold climbed a few hours Supercrack, a long unnamed 5.10, Keystone something or other, Double Cracks then decided to drink beers and eat chips and salsa...
Saw this guy "pushing sixers" up this odub on the way out...
Then on to this...
Drove up to SLC the next day with plans to climb in Little Cottonwood Canyon.
Nasty weather left us with fuzzy heads and fuzzy pictures taking lead climb tests at Momentum climbing gym...
Stopped on the way back to Reno at the Thunder Mountain Monument.
Then back to the waiting pup...
